Roofs in Tallaght
Tallaght’s big estates went up in the 1970s and 1980s, built quickly with interlocking concrete tiles, bedded ridges and timber fascias. Forty-odd years later the pattern repeats from house to house: cracked and slipped tiles, ridge and hip mortar that has washed out, fascias and soffits that have rotted or warped, and gutters pulling away from the wall. Many houses have had a kitchen or bedroom extension added since, usually with a felt flat roof that is now leaking.
