When to call
Emergency roof repairs are for when waiting is not an option: a storm has taken a run of tiles off the front of the house, a ridge tile has come down, felt is flapping where slates used to be, water is dripping through a bedroom ceiling, or a flat roof covering has lifted and is peeling back. What an emergency call-out involves
Call 083 333 6639 and the team will be in contact within 15 minutes, Monday to Sunday, to tell you when a roofer will be there. The roof is made safe first: loose tiles, slates and ridge pieces are removed or refixed, and a heavy-duty tarpaulin is battened over any open area so the house stays dry overnight. Everything is photographed with dates, and you get the photos of the damage and its cause plus your quote for the permanent repair.
What affects the price
An emergency is priced once a roofer has seen the roof. What moves it:
- How much has to be made safe: refixing a couple of tiles is quick; tarping a whole slope or clearing a fallen ridge and chimney pot takes longer and more material.
- Height and weather: a three-storey house or steep slate roof may need a tower, priced separately, and very high wind can mean waiting for a lull.
- The permanent repair: quoted separately as a normal repair, so the extent of the damage comes into it.
The make-safe is agreed before it starts, the price of the permanent repair is agreed before any work starts, and there are no hidden charges.
Insurance claims
Most home policies cover storm damage, and insurers ask for the same three things: dated photos, a description of the cause, and a quote for the repair, which is what we give you. Keep any tile or slate that came down, note the date of the storm, and call your insurer before the permanent repair if they want to see the damage first; the tarp buys that time without the house getting wetter. We cannot say what an insurer will pay, but you will have what you need.
