Raheny was the first area we expanded into from Clontarf, and it has become a regular run for us. Most of the houses went up in the 1960s, with some 1950s and 1970s stock around the edges, and a great many still carry their original concrete tiles. At sixty years old those tiles have lost their surface and hold moss, the lead in the valleys has fatigued and split, and chimney stacks have soft mortar joints and flashings that let water into the bedroom below. Gutters from the same era are often cast iron or early uPVC and have sagged off their brackets.
