Roofs in Swords
Swords is the largest town in Dublin and a big part of our week. Most of its housing went up between the 1970s and the 1990s in estates such as Rivervalley, Brackenstown and Boroimhe, and those roofs share the same problems: interlocking concrete tiles that have gone brittle and slipped, ridge and hip mortar that has cracked, and uPVC or timber fascias and soffits that have warped, rotted or pulled away from the rafter ends. Newer estates such as Applewood and Holywell are in better shape, though we see leaking flat roofs on garages and extensions and poor lead around roof windows. Swords sits on open ground north of the airport, so ridge tiles and gutters take a beating every winter.
What we do most in Swords
Repairs come first: slipped tiles, cracked ridges, leaking valleys and overflowing gutters, usually done in a single visit. Fascia, soffit and gutter replacement in uPVC is next, because the original boards on the older estates are past saving. We also do a lot of flat roofs on extensions and garages, using Laydex, Soprema and RoofTX systems with 20-year manufacturer warranties. Full re-roofs on the three-bed semis are done in tile, and every job is priced after a free on-site check, with the price agreed before any work starts.
